| Tell Me, "About You" |
| We suffered major damage during the hurricane. We are both safe and unharmed. A tree has fallen on our house and removal has been arranged for Thursday. Shortly afterward, the claim can be made and the structure can be secured from exposure and rain. So far damages have been a sky light and smoke stack knocked off and a complete lower level back roof replacement, 800 sq ft of upper roof replacement, two smoke stack replacements, one fence replacement, and a 4-ton 15SR air conditioning system. This on top of the removal of this huge tree. I must admit, this storm scared the hell out of me! Many have asked to see pictures so I have posted several at the link below for my many friends here at home and all over the USA and beyond. Please... Never, under-estimate the power of all things natural! That includes weather! HURRICANE IRENE'S AFTERMATH! (CLICK HERE) Update: December 4, 2011 Hi Everybody, I hope that everyone had a Great Thanksgiving! Ours gave us the opportunity to reflect on all that we have to be thankful for this year. Things have been very exciting around here the last month. On an average day we have close to 18 guys working all over the house on repairs and improvements. It’s been quite the challenge for the contractors to install the systems in this old house. But these contractors have been incredible and have worked with us to conquer all of those challenges. If you ever need a contractor, just let me know. The challenges and weather has caused delays. However, the challenges are behind us and things are moving forward at a quick pace now. I am most happy with the new studio suite. I knew it would be an improvement on the previous environment, but every day the new suites transformation really takes my breath away. Those of you that remember the days of bare cement walls, open rafters, and low radiator pipes, will not believe this is the same space. The leaking and water damage is now a thing of the past. The old slate has been removed and the new roof is ready for skylights and shingles. The tree damage has been repaired along with the structural damage. The rotted beam that we feared failing for years was also replaced. That was an scary experience as the roof had to be jacked up while the old structural beams where cut out and replaced. In the end we learned that the roof had dropped about two feet and a foot of the main beam had deteriorated and collapsed in on itself in a manner that was not visible. When put back in place there was a full foot of the beam missing. We were extremely blessed that it had not caved in since the earthquake. Currently the box gutters are being removed and the pitch is being rebuilt to install an industrial maintenance free gutter system. Two thirds of the house is scaffold and all of the old gutters and soffit have been removed there. Burrrrrrr…… would best explain this. But I’m not complaining. Within a week the roof and soffits should be in place on the upper main level and then the lower levels will be started. I still have not seen a start date for day or evening massages. The HVAC and Electrical is still being put in place and that room is currently without either power or heating. After that the drywall and painting will be done and I will be able to open at least for evening appointments. It’s expected by the contractors the space will be done by the New Year, so that’s my intention. I hope you all are doing great and want you to know that I miss each of you and can’t wait to work with you again. Have a Wonderful Holiday Season! In anticipation, of reopening soon, I would like to offer the following sign up list for those that would like to be notified by me when a date has been set. |
